Emmie is getting bigger and chunkier by the day. Next week, she will be 7 months old. Time flies when you are having fun! She has mastered sitting up, but still no success on crawling. She continues to hate tummy time, so much in fact, that she rolls right back to her back during tummy time.
She is eating up a storm. Anything and everything, Emmie devours. Well, except yams and peas! Mommy continues to make all Emmie's baby food, except her nightly protein of chicken or turkey. Mommy attempted to puree her own chicken, but Emmie doesn't like homemade chicken.
Emmie has also picked up the art of "imitation". She won't imitate Daddy, which is probably a good thing of you know her Daddy, but she likes to imitate Mommy! So far, Emmie will shake her head "yes" and "no" after Mommy shakes her head. We are still working on clapping our hands and saying "uh oh".
Emmie is also sleeping like a log at night. Bedtime is around 9 and she has been sleeping in til 8. She only wakes up occasionally for Mommy to plop her pacifier back in her mouth. After our trip to Naples in November, that pacifier is dunzo! We are putting that on Daddy's "Honey-Do List". SSSHHHH, don't tell him that one!
Emmie went to Grandma and Grandpa's house this past week for her monthly visit. They were very impressed with all her new tricks, i.e. sitting up, new facial expressions, and sounds! Emmie loves going to Grandma's house and didn't even care when Daddy dropped her off. Normally, she is glued onto to Daddy, but not when she sees Grandma! Grandma, Grandpa and Emmie had lots of adventures. They had an outing to a restaurant with Aunt Kara and Uncle Scott. Emmie wasn't so well-behaved after the restaurant and gave Aunt Kara and Uncle Scott a preview of parenthood! She had brunch with Momo at Panera. Grandma reports that Emmie was the toast of the town at Panera. So much so, that the employees came out to "ooh and ahh" over her in the booth! Mommy's Aunt Cindy came over for a visit. Aunt Cindy taught Emmie "patty cake", which she loved. Aunt Cindy told Grandma that Emmie is a fabulous baby. We agree!
Mommy picked Emmie up on Saturday in Des Moines and they did a little shopping at the Jordan Creek Mall. Emmie scored a new outfit and two hairbows. Mommy loves the Jordan Creek Mall because of a hairbow store! Emmie now has five hairbands with an assortment of hairbows. She is quite the stylish baby!
Enjoy the pictures!
