Emmie: Mommy's a bad blogger!

So Mommy has been a bad blogger. It has taken her two weeks to get this new blog up, but she promises it will be a good one! In Mommy's defense, she started a new job and has been exhausted when she gets home!

First up, Emmie had her six-month check-up. She took her shots like a champion and only screamed for a little bit. Initially, she didn't like the doctor or nurses talking to her, but she warmed up and charmed them with her sweet personality. Within the last few weeks, Emmie has decided that no one new can hold her or even touch her. She lets strangers talk to her, but thats about it. So Emmie's 6 month measurements....Emmie is again off the growth charts for her height. She is 28 inches long. The doctor said that within a month she can no longer use the car carrier since she is so long. She weighs almost 17lbs, which is the 75th percentile. Emmie is getting to be such a big girl. I thinking she is going to play basketball!

Next up, Emmie spent the week with Grandma and Grandpa. Mommy and Daddy met Grandma and Grandpa in Des Moines at a restaurant that had a large fishtank. Grandma was sure that Emmie would love the fishtank. Unfortunately, Emmie had no interest in the fish. She only wanted her bananas and Grandma. Mommy was a little worried that Emmie would not want Grandma and Grandpa to hold her since they hadn't seen her in three weeks. This was not the case because as soon as Emmie saw Grandma, she wanted lots of snuggles and kisses!
Emmie had lots of fun and Grandma and Grandpa's house. She got to see Aunt Kara several times. Emmie even reached out her arms for a hug when she saw Aunt Kara. Emmie is so smart! Emmie went to Great-Grandma Momo's house for the day as well. Emmie loves Momo. Momo was the first person to get Emmie to laugh. Times haven't changed much. All Momo had to do was look at Emmie and she would roar with laughter. Emmie also liked Momo's dog, Lovie, since Lovie licked her toes. Daddy is convinced now that Emmie needs a dog. Mommy says, No more animals in this house!
Emmie did lots of eating at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Mommy gave Grandma the list of items Emmie could have and Grandma whipped up some delicious treats for Emmie. Emmie even got food that wasn't on the list, banana cream pie. Daddy almost had a stroke when he found out about this. However, Mommy caught him giving Emmie chocolate icecream the other day, so he can't complain much!

Emmie has been playing in her exersaucer daily. This has been strengthening her legs, so Daddy thinks she will be crawling in three weeks. He even has a bet with Mommy. Mommy is looking forward to a new pair of shoes when she wins this bet!

We also found out this week that Aunt Kara and Uncle Scott are having a girl. Mommy is very excited about this. Emmie helped Mommy pack up all of her designer baby clothes, monitors, and playmats for the new baby. Emmie is very excited to have a girl cousin to play with!

Right before Mommy began typing this blog, she found Emmie had cut her first teeth. She had two bottom teeth coming in. We tried unsuccessfully to get a picture, maybe next time!
