Emmie: 8 month old Emmie

8 month old Emmie is getting bigger, stronger and smarter each day. She has learned many new tricks this month and likes to show them off! At a recent doctor's visit, Emmie weighed a smidge over 20lbs. The MD informed Daddy that a new car seat was in order since Emmie is too "chunky" for her baby carrier!

8 month old Emmie facts....

*Emmie loves to eat. Anything and everything is devoured by Emmie. She prefers finger foods and has a great time devouring things herself. A sample menu: Breakfast is oatmeal with peaches or bananas. Lunch is spaghetti and meatballs. Dinner is a grilled cheese sandwich with carrots. Emmie also likes goldfish crackers and graham crackers for snacks in between meals. What a chunk!

*Emmie continues to be a fashion diva. She loves to be told that she is pretty. Hairbands and flowers are essential to her everyday look. Her closet is at full capacity for her fall and winter looks!

*Emmie has learned to blow kisses. Initially, she would only imitate blowing kisses. Now, she blows a kiss if you do something she really likes. For example, give her a yummy meal or tell her she looks pretty!

*Emmie is a clapping machine. She loves to be asked "clap Emmie". She claps loudly and likes to be cheered for. This is a great amusement.

*Emmie also can wave bye-bye. However, she sometimes gets this confused with clapping, but she is getting better!

*Emmie can also give kisses, but so far she only will give Grandma a kiss. Mommy is waiting for her kiss!

*Emmie wants to drink out of glasses. She has completely skipped the sippy cup stage. This new trick was learned at Grandma's house and Mommy is not happy. Emmie makes a big mess when attempting to drink out of a glass!

*Emmie's newest trick is "NO". She has been shaking her head "NO" for the last month, but now she is pairing the verbalization with it. Emmie says "NO" when she does not like a food choice (peas/green beans). She will also say "NO" when its time to get out of the bath or get dressed. She is very adament when saying "NO". Yikes!

Emmie continues to be the sweetest and happiest baby around! She still has a little stranger danger fear, but she recognizes familiar people. She is very happy each month when she gets to see Grandma, Grandpa, Momo, Aunt Kara and Uncle Scott.
